DNS errors can seem intimidating, but most of the time they have straightforward causes - and simple solutions. Whether your website isn’t loading, emails aren’t arriving, or you’re seeing error messages, this guide will help you understand and resolve the most common DNS issues.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN
What it means:
This error appears in your browser when the domain can’t be resolved to an IP address. Which means, the internet doesn’t know where to send the request.
Likely causes:
-
The domain doesn’t have an A record pointing to a web server
-
The nameservers haven’t been updated correctly
-
The domain name hasn’t propagated yet after changes
-
A typo in the domain
How to fix it:
-
Check that your domain has an A record in place (via your DNS control panel or dnschecker.org)
-
Make sure your nameservers are set to:
ns1.aerowavehosting.io
ns2.aerowavehosting.io
ns3.aerowavehosting.io
ns4.aerowavehosting.io -
Allow up to 48 hours if you’ve only just updated your DNS
-
Try accessing the site on a different network or device
Server IP Address Cannot Be Found
What it means:
The browser couldn’t find the IP address for your domain.
Likely causes:
-
Missing or incorrect A record
-
DNS changes haven’t propagated yet
-
You’re still using your domain registrar’s default nameservers, not AeroWave’s
How to fix it:
-
Check the A record for your domain
-
Make sure you’ve switched to AeroWave’s nameservers
-
Use dnschecker.org to confirm what’s visible publicly
-
If everything looks fine but it still isn’t working, flush your DNS cache
Emails Not Arriving Or Being Rejected
What it means:
Your domain’s email-related DNS records may be missing or incorrect.
Likely causes:
-
No MX records
-
Incorrect MX records pointing to the wrong provider
-
Missing SPF, DKIM, or DMARC records (These records help improve deliverability of your emails)
How to fix it:
-
Use mxtoolbox.com to check your domain’s MX, SPF, and DKIM records
-
If you’re using AeroWave email, make sure the MX records point to AeroWave’s mail servers
-
Add or update SPF and DKIM records as advised by your email provider
-

DNS Records Aren't Saving Or Updating
What it means:
You’ve added a DNS record, but it’s not appearing publicly or doesn’t seem to be taking effect.
Likely causes:
-
The record wasn’t saved properly in your control panel
-
TTL (Time To Live) is set too high, causing a delay
-
You’re editing the wrong DNS zone (e.g. not the active one if you haven’t pointed your domain to AeroWave yet)
How to fix it:
-
Double-check you’ve saved the record in the correct domain zone
-
Use a TTL of 300 seconds (5 minutes) for testing changes
-
Confirm that your domain is pointing to AeroWave’s nameservers
-
Wait up to 48 hours for full propagation
Conflicting Or Duplicate Records
What it means:
You may have more than one record of the same type (e.g. two A records or MX records), which can cause confusion or unpredictable behaviour.
Likely causes:
-
Manual setup errors
-
Leftover records from previous providers
-
Auto-generated DNS records overlapping with custom ones
How to fix it:
-
Review your DNS zone carefully
-
Keep only the records you need — remove outdated or duplicated entries
-
For email: make sure there’s only one set of MX records
-
